Although this isn’t really a bioregional topic I thought it would be interesting to share with you. I have been dancing Hula and Tahtian for about ten years with a group called Na Mamo No’eau. I have a Hula/Tahitian show coming up on Saturday and my group of dancers make all of our own outfits and stuff like that. So on my day off, I was making my wrist kupe’e and my head lei po’o. A wrist kupe’e is something you put around your wrists in traditional Hawiaan dancing and it is made out of plants, greenery, and or flowers. I made my kupe’es out of photina and japanese maple leaves which we have in our backyard. A head lei po’o is basically the same thing but for your head, and I made it of the same materials.
